NEW Aerial Series

Crossing the Gulf Steam from Florida to the Bahamas by boat keeps my adrenaline pumping as the horizon expands and the the distant shore slips into the sea. By contrast, flying at 10,00 feet above the stream fills me with a sense of wonder and calm, transfixed by the beauty of the ever-changing colours and shapes below me. This is the inspiration for my new Aerial Series. It is my effort to capture and share the joyous, euphoric feeling that filters through me, suspended in time and heading to the turquoise waters of the island we now call home.

The majority of the works are acrylic on canvas, completed in my Bahamas studio. The primary design elements for the series are shape, colour and line. The shapes are organic with no hard edges while the limited palette of Teal, Indian Yellow and Phthalo Turquoise produce hues of sea glass to saturated jewel tones. All pieces are finished with thin ,sweeping upward curvilinear lines that feel expansive and infinite, capturing the movement of the sea and inviting you to feel the breeze wafting off the canvas.
